FAIRFIELD – Fairfield’s two golf courses will host a joint city tournament this weekend, and it’s open to the public.
The 2025 Fairfield City Tournament will consist of three divisions that will play July 25-27. In the men’s division, those players must play 18 holes at the Fairfield Golf & Country Club on either July 25 or July 26, and then the finals on Sunday, July 27 will be held at the Walton Club.
The men’s tournament will follow individual stroke play, while the women’s tournament will be a two-gal best shot on Sunday only. The men’s division will play from the blue tees, while the men’s seniors will play from the yellow tees, and the women will play from the red tees.
Nathan Elseman, a member of the Walton Club, said this event used to be referred to as the “Interclub Tournament” and was restricted to members of either Fairfield Golf & Country Club or the Walton Club. This year, anyone who resides in Jefferson County or who belongs to either club may enter.
“We wanted to get more involvement so that people could check out both clubs,” Elseman said. “Not many towns have two nine-hole courses, so it works out pretty well that we can join together.”
