Iowans for Stronger Communities invites local residents, educators, parents, and students to attend an important Education Town Hall on Thursday, Sept. 12 at 5:30 p.m. at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center.
This town hall will bring together key stakeholders to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the Fairfield School District and public education in Iowa.
The event will feature a panel of education leaders who will address critical topics, including the impact of recent state funding changes on local schools, the impacts of school voucher programs, and the upcoming bond issue that will directly affect Fairfield schools.
Panelists will include:
- Angela Livezey, representing the Area Education Association (AEA)
- Tai Ward, Fairfield School Board President
- Zach Wigle, Superintendent of Fairfield Schools
- A Local Teacher, sharing firsthand experiences of the impacts of some of these decisions
Key Discussion Points:
- Services currently provided by the AEAs and how state funding shifts have impacted these resources
- The effects of school voucher programs on the financial stability of public schools
- The Fairfield school bond issue and its potential impact on local infrastructure and education
- How state funding changes have affected classroom resources, teacher support, and student outcomes
“We want to ensure that Fairfield residents are informed about the critical issues affecting our schools,” said Jesse Case, Board president of Iowans for Stronger Communities. “Iowa schools used to be the best in the country but recent attacks on our schools have eroded our institutions. This town hall is an opportunity for community members to ask questions, share concerns, and learn about the future of education in Fairfield and how we can build back our schools.”
The town hall is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring their questions and join the conversation about the future of education in Fairfield.
