See Fairfield’s town square light up the night at the Annual Holiday Lighting Ceremony being held on Friday, Nov. 25 in Central Park. The Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce will continue the decades old tradition of officially kicking off the Holiday season.
Festivities start in the dark at 5:30 p.m. with some talented singers from the Fairfield High School Choir leading the community in a sing-a-long of holiday favorites.
At 5:55 p.m., the Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Mendy McAdams, will announce the person that will get to throw the switch that will light up the entire square in the blink of an eye, turning the darkness into a holiday wonderland. McAdams invites residents to create memories that will last and make Fairfield your Christmas destination. This event is sponsored by Everybody’s Whole Foods.
Santa will officially open his Santa house where children can tell him all their wishes and get a keepsake photo taken. Travel over to Santa’s Workshop where his elves will help children create their own ornament and add their photo. Everyone can enjoy free hot cocoa and cookies as they travel through our magical Christmas square.
Shortly thereafter, Santa will arrive by escort to open the Santa House on the northeast corner of the square where he will listen to children’s hopes and dreams for the best Christmas ever. There will also be free horse drawn wagon rides around the square for a great start to the holiday season. This is an evening not to be missed!
The Santa House allows kids to sit next to Santa while enjoying the fireplace that will keep the house warm. While you’re waiting, grab some free hot chocolate. The excitement keeps coming as kids can have their picture taken by one of Santa’s elves and then have it magically transported to Santa’s Workshop next door where more elves will help children pick out a free ornament. Kids can even help decorate these new keepsakes.
“The Chamber has been doing this for generations, and we will continue to do it,” McAdams said.
While painting Santa’s House and Workshop red Monday afternoon, McAdams and a team of volunteers spoke with families who dropped in to say that their families love to return to Fairfield for the Holiday Lighting Ceremony.
Once again, the Chamber will be giving away five $50 Chamber Bucks gift certificates during the holiday season as an incentive for residents to Shop Local. Stop in Santa’s Workshop to enter the Holiday Chamber Bucks Giveaway. Also look for area retailers with the Fairfield Festive Fridays sign. Make a purchase and enter to win Chamber Bucks. We will draw the first two winners on Monday, Nov. 28. The last three will be selected on Monday, Dec. 19. Area retailers can sign up to be a stop for Fairfield Festive Fridays by emailing the Chamber at Info@FairfieldIowa.com
Don’t forget the Chamber’s Trees of Lights Campaign. This Campaign accepts donations for the purchase of new, and maintenance of existing decorations on the square and around the community. 100% of funds donated go into an account used exclusively for these decorations. Donations may be directed to the “Trees of Lights Campaign.”
If you would like more information about this event or have any questions, please contact the Chamber at 641-472-2111 or email Info@FairfieldIowa.com.
