FAIRFIELD — Fairfield First Fridays Art Walk will host its annual celebration of Oktoberfest Friday evening.
The event will run from 6-10 p.m. in Fairfield’s Central Park, and feature wiener dog races, carriage rides, live music, lawn games, and vendors selling crafts and food.
Van & The Movers will perform all night long in the Ron Prill Bandstand. Those who wish to enter their dog in the wiener races can begin registering at 6 p.m., and the race itself will begin at 6:30 p.m. Carriage rides courtesy of Doug Smith also begin at 6 p.m.
Several organizations and businesses are holding special events in conjunction with art walk, such as the Carnegie Historical Museum hosting its monthly celebration of the county’s Heritage and Century Farms. The museum will be open from 6-9 p.m., and this month’s featured farm is owned by C. Gene and Joneane Parker.
The Fairfield Art Association is hosting a selection of artwork from 6-8:30 p.m. to preview the Mark Shafer Memorial Event, as well as a gallery on Iowa Art Quilters & Fiber Arts.
Cindy’s Art Beat, ICON Gallery and Morning Star Studio are participating in the event, too, with the work of Richard Trice being shown at Morning Star Studio from 6-10 p.m. that day. Willow & Bright on North Main Street will be open until 8 p.m. with drinks, snacks, new arrivals and a pop-up shop featuring On Pointe Design.
