With the flip of a switch during the Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce?s lighting dedication ceremony the evening of Nov. 26 in Central Park, Fairfield will once again be transformed into The Christmas City.
The annual Holiday Lighting Celebration will begin at 5:30 p.m. with members of the Fairfield High School choir, under the direction of Zach Reiter, singing holiday classics near the bandstand.
Following the choir?s performance, winners and sponsors of the sixth annual Gingerbread Children Art Contest will be announced.
For the contest, sponsored by the Fairfield Merchants Association, each kindergarten through fifth-grade student in Fairfield public and private schools are given a contest sheet with a gingerbread graphic to color, paint or decorate in any way they can imagine.
Gingerbread Children Art Contest entries will be displayed in merchants? windows throughout the holiday season.
After the contest results, chamber executive director Brent Willett will announce the name of the 2010 lighting dedication honoree.
The dedication, a well-kept secret until the announcement, recognizes an individual or organization that exemplifies the ?holiday spirit,? said Willett, and the honoree will switch on the lights for this year?s season at 6 p.m.
