Fairfield Women’s Club is excited to get this year of events underway.
Although the McElhinny House is used year-round for meetings, parties, family gatherings and more, Women’s Club members, excluding board members, take a two-month hiatus. To kick off this year’s events, the Women’s Club is hosting its annual Lasagna Luncheon on March 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the McElhinny House.
This long-held tradition that has been part of Women’s Club events for more than 20 years is an opportunity for community members to enjoy a homemade meal and support a part of Fairfield’s history. Like all of the meals hosted by the Women’s Club, the Lasagna Luncheon will be dine-in, carry-out, or delivery.
Members contribute to this event by gathering at the house to make lasagna, garlic bread, and salads, by donating homemade pies, and by serving the day of the event at the house or delivering pre-ordered meals.
Board members are working hard to continue organizing long-held traditions while adding new elements and teaching the next generation. Many hours go into planning each event and preparing all aspects to ensure successful experiences.
Additional events this spring include the Easter Bazaar and the Plant Sale. The Easter Bazaar will be held at the McElhinny House on Friday, April 18, featuring a bake sale, Easter baskets and Ham Balls made by the Garden Department, and Cadbury Egg Critters made by the Craft Department, all available for purchase. The Plant Sale and Cookie Walk will be held in the Carriage House and the McElhinny House, respectively, on May 16-17, and will feature the sale of donated annual and perennial plants and homemade baked goods.
The women of the Fairfield Women’s Club are dedicated to each of these events because all the money raised ensures the McElhinny House is taken care of for years to come. In 2027, the club will celebrate 100 years! To help us kick off a successful year of events, we would love for you to join us March 18 for lunch!
