Fairfield’s intersection of South Main and Fillmore returns to normal

Fairfield motorists should be mindful that the intersection of South Main Street and Fillmore Avenue has returned to normal operations now that the contractor is pausing construction on South Main Street until April 1.

Normal operations for this intersection mean that it’s a two-way stop for Fillmore Avenue traffic only, except before and after school when the intersection converts to an all-way stop. Last school year, the City of Fairfield and Fairfield Community School District collaborated to replace the old roll-out stop signs with post-mounted rotating stop signs.

Fairfield City Engineer and Public Works Director Melanie Carlson asks motorists and pedestrians to use caution in this area while users get used to the change.
