Fairfield’s Midwest Tree Service to expand business to Washington
Mar. 26, 2019 11:27 am
A Fairfield business will be expanding to Washington after purchasing a lot in Washington's business park. Midwest Tree Service, of Fairfield, purchased the 3.15 acre lot for $77,500 with a three-year contingency they will have concrete poured within that time. Midwest Tree Service has been located in Fairfield for 17 years.
Midwest Tree Service owner Brenton Clark explained the additional location in Washington is for convenience. He said the company currently has six employees who live in Washington and because they are beginning to pick up business in Iowa City, expanding the company to put up another building in Washington makes sense because it is more centrally located than their current building.
'It's so centrally located,” he said. 'Eighty percent of our work is here but it doesn't make sense to keep driving from Fairfield to Iowa City.”
Clark said they will build a 60-by-156-foot structure to house all of their equipment and will have four offices inside. They will be paving the entire lot and wll begin construction shortly after.
City Administrator Brent Hinson explained that the standard for businesses at the business park is their lots must be paved with no gravel present. He said because there is an extensive amount of land to be paved, a three-year contingency is being put in place to allow the company enough time to complete the project.
'We couldn't be more excited about having this business in our city limits,” Hinson said. 'I think the business park is a great fit for them and a great fit for us.”
