FAIRFIELD — Coralville artist Kevin Burt will perform Wednesday in Fairfield during the third installment of the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center’s Summer Sun Concert Series.
The series features singers and musicians performing on Main Street just outside the arts center every other Wednesday during the summer. Burt’s concert will begin at 7 p.m. Concerts in the series last between 70 and 90 minutes. Members of the public are invited to bring a lawn chair. The arts center will have an outdoor concession booth once again.
Arts center executive director Lindsay Bauer said the first two concerts in June — featuring Bo Ramsey and Baraka Trio — went well.
“People are glad to be out again,” Bauer said. “Now that so many restrictions have been lifted, people feel more comfortable being together. There’s no stress, no tension.”
Burt most recently performed during Washington’s Juneteenth celebration. According to his bio, he is an artist educator with the state of Iowa Arts Council. He has written and published a classroom harmonica method book called "Just Play It: an introduction to blues harmonica." His approach is simple: education through entertainment. His program has been going strong since 1994.
The remaining concerts in the series are:
July 14: The Boys
July 28: Awful Purdies
Aug. 11: Nicholas Naioti
