OMAHA, Neb. (AP) ? Family of a retired California man who disappeared from an Amtrak train somewhere between Denver and Chicago are searching for him in Nebraska.
Jen Dowd says the family chose to focus on Omaha and Lincoln because of unconfirmed reports that an Amtrak employee may have talked to 69-year-old Charlie Dowd when the train was in Omaha on Friday.
Family members and volunteers plan to hang missing posters describing the retired firefighter and search around the Omaha train station on Monday.
The last time family members talked to Charlie Dowd was Thursday evening when the train was in the Denver area. Dowd, who lives in San Mateo, Calif., was travelling to visit family in Montreal, Canada.
Dowd?s luggage arrived in Chicago Friday, but he wasn?t on the train.
According to Lt. Tom McAndrew of the Ottumwa Police Department, the subject was still missing as of this morning. McAndrew said there is no specific information that Dowd got off the train in Ottumwa, but it is possible.
