Fairfield High School hosted its annual fall 'Meet the Trojans” event Friday evening at Trojan Stadium in Fairfield. The event showcases the athletes in the fall sports – cheerleading, cross-country, girls swimming, volleyball and football – and gives the public its first glimpse at how the teams are progressing in practice through a couple of scrimmages.
The volleyball team scrimmaged in the gym while the football team scrimmaged against the visiting Pekin Panthers.
The swimming team starts its season Thursday with a contest in Ottumwa against both Ottumwa and Oskaloosa. The cross-country team had its first meet Monday, Aug. 24, in Knoxville. The volleyball team begins the year Saturday when the Trojans host a quad, and the football team opens the year by hosting Knoxville Friday.
