Farm to Film Fest wins state grant
Jul. 31, 2023 12:15 am
WASHINGTON — The Farm to Film Fest is pleased to announce that it has received a $10,000 Humanities Partnership Grant from the Iowa Humanities Council. Grant funds will support the second annual Farm to Film Festival, to be held in historic downtown Washington, Iowa on April 20-21, 2024.
The Humanities Partnership Grant supports Farm to Film Fest to again offer the public free, handicap-accessible, clean and safe environments to enjoy a wide variety of films from all over the world. Films selected to screen will include the following categories: Iowa-Made, Women and Minority, Student, Documentary, Animated and Narrative. A reception Saturday evening with filmmakers in attendance will be open to everyone free of charge.
“This grant recognizes the importance of humanities in our community. The festival brings people together to enjoy the arts and keep our small community thriving” said Lyle Moen, President of Farm to Film Fest. He continued “The festival also gives an economic boost to our merchants and is a collaborative effort involving government, business and private citizens. We are extremely grateful to be chosen to receive this grant.”
Farm to Film Fest Director Melinda Lord said the money would be a major boost.
“As inflation has reduced discretionary spending for entertainment, the festival provides access to entertaining and thought-provoking films completely free of charge to the entire family,” she said. “This grant provides additional funds to promote the event and increase attendance.”
