Fatal car wreck on US Highway 218

A single-vehicle rollover accident was reported in the southbound lanes of US Highway 218 Sunday afternoon at approximately 12:34 p.m.

As a result of the accident, Robert Ozell Bradshaw Jr., 62, who was seated in the front passenger seat, was transported by Henry County Health Center ambulance to the Henry County Health Center. He was pronounced dead.

Pamela Marie Bradshaw, 62, of Burlington was operating the vehicle. She was transported by air care to the University of Iowa.

The incident occurred near mile marker 44 on US Highway 218.

According to an accident report from the Iowa State Patrol the vehicle, a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe, dropped off onto the west shoulder; Pamela Bradshaw then steered to the left and returned to the roadway. She counter-steered to the right and entered the west ditch where the Tahoe rolled and came to rest on its top facing east. The vehicle was a total loss.

Neither the driver, nor the passenger were ejected from the Tahoe and both had to be extricated by mechanical means. The air bags did not deploy.

Both occupants of the vehicle were using seat belts.
