FEDA co-hosts export workshop

The Fairfield Economic Development Association, in partnership with the International Trade Office of the Department of Commerce, hosted a workshop on exporting from 8-11:30 a.m. Friday.

A panel of industry experts from Iowa?s leading export companies was on hand at the Best Western Fairfield Inn to discuss issues, answer questions and address concerns from a ?real world? perspective.

?This gives business owners the opportunity to ask questions on global business operations such as ?Is strategy important?? and ?What growth strategies can small businesses realistically use??? said FEDA executive director Tracy Vance.

Workshop participants learned how the most successful Iowa companies develop a strong international distribution network. They also learned about research, finance, compliance and strategic planning tools used by the best companies, and the panel answered questions on export process logistics.

Following continental breakfast and open discussion, workshop participants toured Dexter Laundry, a District Export Council host company.
