Fees at the Des Moines County Regional Landfill increased July 1
Fees increased at the Des Moines County Regional Landfill as of July 1.
Officials at the landfill said the fee increase was attributed to increased capital and operating costs from Iowa Department of Natural Resources? landfill regulations.
The new fees are as follows:
? Solid waste ? $50/ton;
? Demolition ? $44/ton with minimum landfill fee of $10;
? Wood waste ? $24/ton;

Fees increased at the Des Moines County Regional Landfill as of July 1.
Officials at the landfill said the fee increase was attributed to increased capital and operating costs from Iowa Department of Natural Resources? landfill regulations.
The new fees are as follows:
? Solid waste ? $50/ton;
? Demolition ? $44/ton with minimum landfill fee of $10;
? Wood waste ? $24/ton;
? Contaminated soil ? ($60 per event testing fee), $25/ton;
? Special waste ? $65/ton;
? Asbestos-loose ? (minimum $20), $200/ton;
? Asbestos-solid ? $65/ton;
? Batteries ? $2.00/each;
? Tires ? $250/ton.
Electronics fees as of July 1:
? CRT monitors ? $7.00;
? Televisions (all sizes) ? $15;
? All other electronics ? $0.25/lb.
? High intensity discharge bulbs ? $2.25 each;
? All other bulbs ? $0.65/each;
? Minimum electronics fee ? $5.00

The landfill serves Mt. Pleasant, Mt. Union, New London, Rome, Salem, Westwood and Winfield in Henry County.
