Fairfield High School announced its 2022 Homecoming Court during an assembly Thursday morning.
The Homecoming Court consists of boys Tate Allen, Ryan Higgins, Hunter Cecchini, Maxwell Weaton, Jace Hannes and Nile Christensen, and girls Sara Kretz, Ellie Stever, Ivy Larsen, Maddy Greiner, Katelyn Adam and Kate Pettit.
There’s no school on Monday, Sept. 26, but Homecoming festivities continue on Tuesday with the dress-up theme of “Beach Day,” followed by “Country/Country Club Day” on Wednesday, “USA Day” on Thursday, and finally “FHS Orange and Black Spirit Day” on Friday.
The pep rally on Thursday, Sept. 29 will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Trojan Stadium, featuring performances by the band and cheerleaders and the Powder Puff game. Last year’s King and Queen, Grant Ward and Anna Dunlap, will return to FHS to pass their crowns onto this year’s King and Queen at 8 p.m. Fairfield varsity football coach Nate Weaton will give the pep talk, and the students will do a torch run to start the bonfire.
On Friday, students will be dismissed at 1:40 p.m. for the parade, which will begin at 2 p.m. from the high school. Once the floats reach Central Park, FHS English teacher Fred Hucke will emcee that afternoon’s pep rally, featuring a performance by the cheerleaders, the school fight song played by the band, and the announcement of the winners of the candy contest, baby picture contest and float contest. The Homecoming Court will be introduced once again, and Coach Dane Kool will give the pep talk.
The varsity football game against West Burlington-Notre Dame begins at 7 p.m., and there is no freshman game. The Southeast Iowa Regional Fire Honor Guard will bring in the Colors.
After the game, students are invited to participate in the dance from 9 p.m. to midnight, put on by the FHS Student Council.
