Final vote count shows Taylor with 170-vote win

All the votes have now been counted in the Nov. 8 general election, and with the tally complete, incumbent State Sen. Rich Taylor, D-Mt. Pleasant, emerged with a 170-vote victory over challenger Danny Graber, R-Mt. Pleasant.
The final count had Taylor at 13,435 votes and Graber notched 13,265.

All the votes have now been counted in the Nov. 8 general election, and with the tally complete, incumbent State Sen. Rich Taylor, D-Mt. Pleasant, emerged with a 170-vote victory over challenger Danny Graber, R-Mt. Pleasant.
The final count had Taylor at 13,435 votes and Graber notched 13,265.
Results on Nov. 8 had Taylor leading by 61 votes ? 13,281-13,220. However, absentee votes received up until Nov. 14 with a postmark of Nov. 7 or before were counted late last week and again Monday.
Following is the vote total in the four counties comprising Senate District 42. The district includes all of Henry and Lee counties and portions of Washington and Jefferson counties.
Henry County ? Graber, 5,198; Taylor, 3,966.
Lee County ? Taylor, 8,900; Graber, 6,794.
Washington County ? Graber, 694; Taylor, 268.
Jefferson County ? Graber, 579; Taylor, 301.
The unofficial tallies are being canvassed this week by the board of supervisors in the respective counties. Henry County?s results were canvassed on Tuesday.
Taylor is completing his first four-year term in the Iowa Legislature while Graber was making his first bid for elective office.
