Fairfield Fire Department responded at 2 p.m. Tuesday to a call about smoke in a building at 701 E. Lowe Ave., No. 22. Occupant had left food on a hot stove, and it caught fire. Firefighters removed the pan of food to outside and used ventilation fans to clear the smoke. No water was needed. Firefighters returned to the station at 2:30 p.m.
