Fire causes $1M damages to Ag Supply Inc
May. 29, 2019 1:19 pm
A fire broke out at Washington Ag Supply Inc. in Washington Saturday night causing $1 million in damages.
Mark Peck, owner of Washington Ag Supply Inc. located at 702 E. 4th Street, said on Tuesday, May 28, that the fire Saturday night was started by wiring on a rig that overheated and set the building a blaze. Wednesday, May 29, Washington Fire Chief Ton Wide said the cause has not been officially determined, but agreed with Peck's assumption that it was due to overheating of wiring on a piece of equipment.
Chief Wide said crews had the fire contained within 20 minutes but were on scene for four hours. Everything in the shop area of the building was destroyed and part of the office space was damaged.
On Tuesday, Peck estimated the damage to be close to $1 million. Peck said business will continue to run as normal despite the fire.
'We'll get it fixed, but it will take time,” he said.
The Washington Fire Department, the Ainsworth Fire Department and the Washington Police Department all responded.
