Fire consumes barn near Riverside
A barn near Riverside was fully engulfed in flames Saturday afternoon. The Washington County Communications Center received a 911 call about a brush fire at 2440 180th St. at about 5 p.m. The caller indicated that the brush fire had gotten out of control and was beginning to catch the barn on fire. St. at about 5 p.m. The caller indicated that the brush fire had gotten out of control and was beginning to catch the barn on fire. Fire departments from Riverside, Kalona and Washington responded to the scene. The barn was fully engulfed upon their arrival. No injuries were reported. The property where the fire occurred belongs to Julie Zahs.
