Fairfield firefighters were called to a vehicle and house fire at 401 North D St., the home of Frasier Jones, at 1:41 a.m. today.
According to incoming fire chief Scott Vaughan, the fire was an accident.
?The guy was working on a vehicle next to the house ? and accidentally set it on fire, and it spread to the house,? said Vaughan.
?It?s pretty bad,? said Vaughan about the damage. ?I don?t have a dollar figure, but there is heavy structural damage and obviously the car.?
No one was hurt in the fire. Vaughan said those inside the home were alerted and able to get out, and the firefighters didn?t face anything they hadn?t seen before.
Vaughan said the fire department had 16 men and three vehicles at the scene until 4:45 a.m.
The Fairfield Police Department and the Jefferson County Area Ambulance assisted the firefighters.
