WASHINGTON — While a Saturday afternoon blaze on Main Street captured headlines early this week, a house fire at 7:20 a.m. Friday made for another call to the Washington Fire Department, which said its crews remained on the scene until around 9:30 a.m.
Flames destroyed a house on 303rd Street, but caused no injuries, according to department officials, who said a wood stove in the building’s addition caused the fire.
“Upon arrival, the structure was fully engulfed and a defensive exterior fire attack was initiated as the structure had already burnt completely through,” a news release from the Washington Fire Department said. “The house was a total loss and no injuries were reported.”
Brighton, Wayland, and Crawfordsville fire departments helped respond to the call, as did Washington County Ambulance, Sheriff, Emergency Management and 911 Communications, along with Access Energy crews.
