Fire engulfs rural Jefferson County home today
A home between Packwood and Fairfield was lost to fire today.
The house at 1376 Jasmine Ave. caught fire shortly after midnight. Fifteen firefighters from the Packwood Fire Department and nine from the Richland Fire Department responded to the scene, where they stayed for the next three hours. The Fairfield Fire Department sent a tanker to help extinguish the blaze.

A home between Packwood and Fairfield was lost to fire today.
The house at 1376 Jasmine Ave. caught fire shortly after midnight. Fifteen firefighters from the Packwood Fire Department and nine from the Richland Fire Department responded to the scene, where they stayed for the next three hours. The Fairfield Fire Department sent a tanker to help extinguish the blaze.
The fire reignited later in the morning and firefighters had to return to the scene to put out the flames.
A few people were in the home at the time of the fire but no one was injured. The fire began in the garage. A trailer next to the home also was destroyed by the fire. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
