Fairfield Fire Chief Ralph Hickenbottom shows Representative Dave Loebsack the area covered by the Fairfield Fire Department this morning. Loebsack was very interested in the department and its needs and requested a tour of the facility. Hickenbottom explained how the $32,775 grant will be used primarily to install a firetruck exhaust removal system. The system will hook up to the trucks? exhaust and extract contaminants before releasing the rest outside the station. As the truck pulls out, it will automatically release. Loebsack also was scheduled to visit the Milton and Douds fire stations to congratulate them for the grants they recently received.
