Firefighters respond to smoke at Main Street Cinema

Fire crews were dispatched to Main Street Cinema following receiving reports of smoke Thursday afternoon.
The Mt. Pleasant Fire Department was joined on scene by the New London Fire Department after civilians reported seeing smoke coming from Main Street Cinema before 1 p.m., on Thursday, July 16.

Fire crews were dispatched to Main Street Cinema following receiving reports of smoke Thursday afternoon.
The Mt. Pleasant Fire Department was joined on scene by the New London Fire Department after civilians reported seeing smoke coming from Main Street Cinema before 1 p.m., on Thursday, July 16.
No flames or smoke were apparent outside of the building. However, firefighters spent the bulk of their time on the roof of the building and in the attic.
Fire crews are unclear if lighting hit the building during storms Wednesday night and early Thursday morning. Tenants of upstairs apartments reported electronics had ?fried? after the storms.
Today?s merchant movie, which was scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m., was cancelled.
One Mt. Pleasant firefighter was transported to Henry County Health Center via ambulance due to smoke inhalation.
Fire crews are currently still on scene. Scott Lowe, owner of Main Street Cinema was on scene.
