Fireworks were determined to be the culprit behind a fire that broke out near the dam by the Oakland Mills camping area.
On Monday, July 22, at approximately 7:15 p.m., the Henry County Sheriff's office was notified of an active fire in the log jam on the south shore. Mt. Pleasant Fire, Henry County Conservation and members of the public responded and put out the fire safely.
The cause of the fire was determined to be the use of fireworks, and four individuals were charged for using fireworks outside the dates allowed and charges were filed against Trenton Saner, Tanner Helmick, Brandon Hart, Levi Stevens, Jordan Matheney and Tyler Nelson.
No damage or injuries were reported as a result.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
