MT. PLEASANT — Five Henry County girls are set to compete at the Henry County Fair on Wednesday for the title of the Henry County Fair Queen
The Henry County Fair Queen pageant will be at 7:30 p.m. at the Wright Pavilion in McMillan Park.
The crowning of this year’s queen is open to the public. Reigning 2019 Queen Sophie Lounsbury held on to the crown for an extra year after the queen contest was canceled last year due to COVID-19.
Contestants will be judged on personality, attitude, leadership, citizenship and poise. The contestants will model an array of outfits during the contest. A panel of judges will ask the contestants questions about the fair and the community.
The contestants are expected to volunteer at the fair throughout the week. They will be coached on interviewing, public speaking, networking and onstage performance techniques to make sure they stand up to the challenge.
The current Queen Sophie Lounsbury will make an appearance and speak during the contest.
The 4-H clothing modeling event will be held during the queen contest.
