FMS eighth-graders pick up wins in season finale
WASHINGTON, Iowa ? Fairfield?s eighth-grade volleyball team concluded its season with a trip to Washington Thursday.
The ?A? team won 21-12, 21-8 to finish the season at 6-3 overall. Top players were Kenady Waugh, who recorded six aces on 14 serves, and Natalie Angstead, who served up five aces. Angstead and Brynna Bowman had seven assists each, and Haley Beard paced the attack with five kills.

WASHINGTON, Iowa ? Fairfield?s eighth-grade volleyball team concluded its season with a trip to Washington Thursday.
The ?A? team won 21-12, 21-8 to finish the season at 6-3 overall. Top players were Kenady Waugh, who recorded six aces on 14 serves, and Natalie Angstead, who served up five aces. Angstead and Brynna Bowman had seven assists each, and Haley Beard paced the attack with five kills.
The ?B? team won 21-18, 21-17 to finish with a nearly perfect 7-0-2 mark. Brooke McLain helped the team with 37 passes and Shelby Heston had three kills and a block. Nichelle Blakeney, Jada Lippincott and Sarah Swanson scored two kills apiece.
In combined action with the ?C? and ?D? teams, the Trojans split a 21-16, 6-21 game with Washington. Lauren Ward paced the Trojans from behind the service line, Caytlyn Nystrom contributed six passes and Shelby McKune finished with five passes. Olivia Hammel and Lauren Ward put down one kill apiece.
Fairfield?s ?C? team ended with a record of 5-2-2, while the ?D? team?s record was 5-1.
Fairfield coach Trisha Copeland called it an ?all-around great night.?
