FMS wrestlers compete in Washington

WASHINGTON, Iowa ? Five Fairfield Middle School wrestlers went 2-0 at a Tuesday quadrangular in Washington, Iowa.

Zach Barnes, Derek Beasley, Michael Fritz, Chris Hanson and Bailey Jones all were double-winners for Fairfield.

Beasley won by fall in 10 and 55 seconds, while Hanson pinned a pair of opponents in 29 seconds and 1:34, respectively. Fritz won his two matches in 29 seconds and 2:21. Barnes earned a 9-4 decision and won by fall in 14 seconds, and Jones won a 13-7 decision and won by fall in 1:29.

Gannon Courtright, Mitch Taglauer, Dylan Abbott and Walker Allen all had one win on the day. Taglauer pinned his opponent in 3:42, and Abbott and Allen won by fall in 3:36 and 3:38, respectively. Courtright claimed a 7-2 decision.

The Trojans competed against host Washington, Mount Pleasant and Burlington.

Fairfield?s grapplers are off for winter break and return to the mat Jan. 8.
