Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is sponsoring a food safety training seminar for food service managers and employees on Wednesday, June 6, at Great Prairie AEA in Burlington from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
?We all want to eat food that is safe as well as tasty. We know that food safety hazards and risks are prevalent in today?s world. Serving safe food is mandatory. This training program aims to train food service workers about the safest way to prepare foods they serve and about industry standards and their obligation to meet them,? said Patricia Steiner, Nutrition and Health Specialist with ISU Extension and Outreach.
According to Steiner, the program is based on the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation?s ServSafe certification program and the Iowa Food Code. Participants will receive a copy of the ServSafe Managers training manual and have the option of testing for ServSafe certification.
For more details about the program or for a registration form, contact Steiner at 319-394-9433 or 800-914-1914 or contact your local county ISU Extension and Outreach office.
