WASHINGTON — Jaron Rosien’s scheduled jury trial is rescheduled once more, after a pretrial conference on Friday. It was the former Washington mayor’s first court appearance since stepping down from that role, for which he’d spent the previous year on voluntary unpaid leave.
An order for the continuance, signed by Chief District Judge Myron Gookin, did not give a reason for the continuance, or list a new date for a future trial or conference, but did say both the prosecution and defense “agreed that the pretrial conference and the May 21, 2024, jury trial shall be continued.”
The judge also directed both parties to contact the case coordinator within 14 days to schedule a new trial and pretrial date.
Rosien was accused of third degree sexual abuse in January, but has pleaded not guilty to the charge. Friday marked the third order for continuance in the case, which was initially scheduled for a jury trial in July of 2023.
