The slate of candidates for the March 2 special election for Washington County Supervisor District 3 is set.
County Auditor Dan Widmer said that four candidates - one Republican and three 'no party” - will be on the March 2 ballot.
Prospective candidates had until the end of the day Friday to file for candidacy.
Marcus Fedler of Ainsworth is the Republican candidate.
He was nominated by the Washington County Republican Party at a Jan. 31 party meeting.
'The Democrats did not submit a nomination,” Widmer said.
The three no-party candidates are:
' Johnathan Bartholomew of Brighton.
' Dwight Miller of Ainsworth.
' Joshua Schreiber of rural Washington.
District 3 runs along the southern portion of Washington County from Brighton Township east to the county line, then north to just outside of Riverside.
The four candidates are seeking to serve the remainder of Abe Miller's term, which expires in 2022.
Miller announced his resignation from the Board of Supervisors in December, effective Jan. 27.
A panel made up of Dan Widmer, Treasurer Jeff Garrett and Recorder Jo Greiner had the option to make an appointment to the Board of Supervisors or call for a special election.
'We felt, as a commission, it was important to give everyone in the supervisor's district the chance to vote,” Widmer said. 'Everyone will be able to have a say in who is representing them.
