Washington County
Coppock:
A fireworks display is planned at Eagles Nest between 7 and 10 p.m. on Saturday, July 1. A community calendar entry from the Washington Chamber of Commerce instructs attendees to park along Highway 78.
Richmond:
The Sons of Amvets Post 107 and the Richmond shooters will put on a fireworks display for at the Amvets Post 107 in Richmond. The show is scheduled for Monday, July 3, with a rain date of July 8, and is supported entirely by community donations. Festivities begin at 4 p.m. according to a Facebook Event page.
Washington:
On Tuesday, July 4, Blissed Out Wellness will host Yoga in the Park in Washington’s square from 9-10 a.m.
Fireworks on July 4 start at dusk at the Washington County Fairgrounds. Attendees are advised to bring their own chairs.
Wellman Fourth of July Celebration
On July 4, Wellman will host a multitude of Independence Day celebrations, including:
- 9:30 a.m.: Kiddie Parade downtown
- 10 a.m.: Main Parade downtown
- 11:30 a.m. to dusk: various activities, vendors and live entertainment at North Park
- 1 p.m.: Local veterans’ documentary at Parkside Activities Center, produced by Storyline Multimedia.
- 1-4 p.m.: Dino-Venture at Parkside Activities Center
- Dusk: Fireworks show. Parking is prohibited during the show along First Avenue, Ginkgo Avenue, and Highway 22
Henry County
Mt. Pleasant:
The City of Mt. Pleasant will host Fourth of July celebrations at McMillian Park begining with a parade at 5 p.m., meet your heroes at 5:30 p.m. and free activities from 5:30 p.m.-dusk.
These free activities will include trolley rides, carousel rides, bouncy houses, and face painting. The day’s festivities will conclude with fireworks at dark.
Wayland:
6:30-9:30 a.m. the Lion’s club will host a freewill donation breakfast at the Wayland Community Center.
Parade lineup begins at 9:30 a.m. and the parade itself begins at 10:30 a.m. on Main Street.
Following the parade, the fire department welcomes kids to Main Street for firefighter water games.
For lunch, the WACO basketball teams will host a freewill donation lunch from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. for dine in or carry out.
Fireworks will begin at dusk at WACO School football field thanks to donations from the City of Wayland.
Jefferson County
Fairfield:
The City of Fairfield will host a fireworks display at dusk on July 4 at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds in Fairfield. In case of rain, the event will be made up on July 7.
Keokuk County
Richland:
The city of Richland will hold fireworks at dusk Sunday, July 2, at the Richland ball fields. Concessions will be available with live music.
Sigourney:
Sigourney will host four days of celebration leading up to July 4, with highlights including:
- Saturday, July 1: KC Elite Block Party at Memorial Hall from 1-3 p.m. Street Dance in the square from 7-10:30 p.m.
- Sunday, July 2: various activities in Legion Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Monday, July 3: Hospice Pie Auction at the fire station opens at 4:30 p.m., judging at 5, auction at 6. Live music starts in the square at 8 p.m.
- Tuesday, July 4: 5k/1 mile run starts at Memorial Hall at 7 a.m., parade lineup starts at 10 a.m. at the elementary. Free swim at Sigourney Pool from 1-5 p.m., tractor pull at Keokuk County Expo at 6 p.m., fireworks at dark.
