Free NAMI program being offered April 17
As part of their community service project work, some Iowa Wesleyan College juniors are starting a National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) chapter in Henry County.

As part of their community service project work, some Iowa Wesleyan College juniors are starting a National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) chapter in Henry County.
An organizational meeting is planned for Tuesday, April 17, from 6:30-8 p.m. in the science building room 317 on the Iowa Wesleyan campus. Dinner will precede the meeting at 6 p.m. Guest speaker will be Leland Stephan of the Community Health Work in Indianapolis, Ind.
NAMI is a program designed to provide educational support on mental health recovery and empower people living with schizophrenia, schizoaffective and bipolar I disorder. NAMI also offers tips to prepare for and minimize the possibility of relapse. The April 17 program at IWC is entitled ?Relapse Awareness and Management Strategies.?

Pleasant is also looking for participants in the 2012 NAMI Johnson County Walk at the lower City Park in Iowa City, Saturday, April 28, at 10 a.m. Last year, 93 walkers in Iowa City raised $7,929.
