Friends of Harlan-Lincoln House release Brown Bag Lecture topics
Friends of the Harlan-Lincoln House will host their annual Brown Bag Lecture series the first four Tuesdays in March. All presentations are at noon in the International Room at Chadwick Library, Iowa Wesleyan College. There is no charge. Guests are invited to bring a lunch.

March 3 ? Victorian
Gravestone Symbols
Loren Horton, retired senior historian at the State Historical Society of Iowa, will present a slide show program about Victorian Gravestone Symbolism. The Loren Horton Community History Award, presented annually by the State Historical Society, is named in his honor.
March 10 ? Remembering Mr. History, Donald Young
Pat White, local history buff and Henry County Heritage Trust board member, will give a PowerPoint presentation about Donald Young and his vast collection of Henry County photos, postcards and memorabilia, which Don has bequeathed to Henry County Historic Trust.
March 17 ? Mount Pleasant?s Irishtown Stories
Larry Maher, Mount Pleasant, will share stories and a history of the abandoned town of Irishtown, or Woodlawn, located at the southeast edge of Mount Pleasant over 100 years ago.
March 24 ? Story Telling
Perry Ross, Iowa City, graduated from Iowa Wesleyan in 1971 and later earned a masters and Ph. D. from the University of Iowa. He spent 40+ years in education that included teaching everything from kindergarten to graduate courses as well as serving as a school administrator.
Throughout his career he has been a storyteller sharing with audiences across the Midwest.
