Applications are currently being accepted for a scholarship and loan program through the Friends of Henry County Health Center.
Individuals that are interested in a health occupation are eligible for the scholarship.
Applicants must also be a resident of Henry County, an employee of Henry County Health Center (HCHC) or an immediate family member of an HCHC employee.
The scholarship or loan limit is $2,000 per year per individual.
The funds are designated as both a loan and scholarship because the recipient will be asked to sign an agreement with HCHC stating that they will work at the hospital after completing course work and licensing.
Up to $1,000 per year will be waived as long as the individual fulfills their obligation.
Applicants may enroll in the program and college of their choice, but the scholarship committee reserves the right to review the program.
Funds awarded may be used to pay for tuition, books, and other educational expenses.
Applications are due by Tuesday, Nov. 30, and can be turned in at the HCHC Public Information Department, 407 S. White Street, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa 52641.
The program was started back in 1979 to offer financial assistance to students that wanted to enroll in the health care field.
Funds have been given to students in several different health fields, including nursing, emergency care, laboratory, radiology, medical records, and pharmacy.
