Fun activities for the family during winter break

Winter break is coming for schools in Washington, Henry and Jefferson counties, which means a time of rest and relaxation with the family. For those looking for something to do together outside of the house, here are some activities happening near you.
The Fairfield Library will be holding its Winter Reading Games starting Friday, Dec. 20 through Wednesday Jan. 1. Participants track of their reading throughout the event to win books and other prizes like stuffed animals and Legos. It's free-for-all ages.
Also at the Fairfield Library during break are their regularly scheduled activities like game time on Mondays from 4 - 5 p.m.; Lego time Thursdays from 4 - 5 p.m.; story times for preschoolers Mondays and Thursdays at 10 a.m. and Tuesdays at 5:15 p.m. as well as Wednesdays at 10 a.m. for children two and younger.
If movies are more your thing, the Fairfield Library also will be hosting free films Fridays Dec. 13 and 27 at 7:30 p.m. with films to be determined.
The Mt. Pleasant Public Library will host a breakfast with Santa Saturday, Dec. 21. free to the public. The breakfast will be from 10 - 11 a.m. and include a story time and crafts for attendees to take home.
The Washington Library will be holding its 'Noon Year's Eve” party Tuesday, Dec. 31 giving families a chance to ring in the new year a bit earlier. The event starts at 11 a.m. and will include various fun activities, crafts to take home, music, snacks and end with a balloon countdown to the 'noon year.” It's free and all ages are welcome.
Washington city's calendar is also packed with events like jigsaw puzzles with the Jigsaw Puzzle Club Monday, Dec. 23 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the ReBook Room; a coloring session in the Wolf Conference Room hosted by the Coloring Club day after Christmas from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.; and, a performance from R & B, pop & rock dance group Final Mix Band Friday, Dec. 27 and Saturday, Dec. 28 from 8:30 p.m. - 11:45 p.m.
