Gayle S. Hornbaker, 91, of Minnetonka, Minn., and formerly of Bonaparte, died on Saturday, March 19, 2016.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, June 4, 2016, at the Thompson Cemetery, in rural Bonaparte, with Mary Pugh officiating. Full military rites will be presented by the Bonaparte American Legion Sargent-Osweiler Post #563.

Gayle S. Hornbaker, 91, of Minnetonka, Minn., and formerly of Bonaparte, died on Saturday, March 19, 2016.

Hornbaker was born in Bonaparte in 1923. He joined the Navy at age 18, and served in the Philippine Islands in World War II. He was a graduate of University of Iowa and Harvard Business School.
He was a financial executive with Studebaker Corp., in South Bend, Ind., Onan Corp, in Fridley, Minn., and Porsche of North America, where he helped bring their dealerships to the U.S.
Hornbaker is survived by his wife, Rosalind; his sisters, JoAnne Baxter; and Carolyn (Vernon) Ohlendorf; his children, Susan (Greg) Lowe; Gordon (Renee) Hornbaker; Beth Boldt; Kerry (Dan) Plowman; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Nona; his brothers, Cecil and John; his sister, Elaine Burkett; and a great-grandchild.
