Gerald Turner, 85, of Farmington, died on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at his home in Farmington.
Friends may call after 1 p.m., on Friday, March 25, 2016, at Schmitz Funeral Home, in Donnellson. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., that evening, at the funeral home, in Donnellson. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, March 26, 2016, at Schmitz Funeral Home, in Donnellson, with Rev. Andy Bunnell officiating. Burial will be at the Greenglade Cemetery, in Farmington, with full military rites presented by the Farmington American Legion Richardson Anthony Post #231.

Turner was born on Dec. 1, 1930, in Birmingham, the son of George Elmer and Elsie (Poole) Turner. On Dec. 20, 1956, he married Josephine B. Manning, in Keosauqua. She preceded him in death.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He also worked as a farmer and a truck driver.
He enjoyed working with his hands, improving his farm and home, riding motorcycles, being outdoors, spending time with his family and playing cards.
Turner is survived by one son, Ronnie (Ruth Ann) Turner, of Farmington; one grandson; two great-granddaughters; one great-grandson; two sisters, Carroll Lannom, of Gladesville, Tenn.; and Virginia Robison, of Keosauqua.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Josephine; one son, Kenneth Turner; two sisters, Ethel Coleman and Marie Grimson; and three brothers, Elmer, John and Merrill Turner.
