Geraldine ?Geri? Hidy, age 73 of Batavia, passed away at 5:04 AM, Thursday, October 13 at University Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.

Geraldine ?Geri? Hidy, age 73 of Batavia, passed away at 5:04 AM, Thursday, October 13 at University Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Kremer Funeral Home in Batavia, with Rev. Gary Cradic officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery. Friends may call after noon on Wednesday, October 19 at Kremer Funeral Home in Batavia, where the family will be present from 6:00 to 8:00 Wednesday evening.
Geraldine Lucille was born on December 29, 1937 in Wapello County, the daughter of Lawrence J. and Clara E. Sutton Ratliff. She began her education in Copperhead country school, and graduated from Ottumwa High School. She then attended Iowa Success Business School.
Survivors include her husband Gerald ?Skeeter? Hidy of Batavia; four children, John Hidy and wife Shirley of Batavia, Heidi Belzer and husband Randy of Batavia, Karla Fitzsimmons and husband Philip of Birmingham, and James Hidy and wife Anjee of Ankeny; eleven grandchildren, Lauren Stone and husband Steve, Jerrod Belzer and wife Courtney, Jonathan Hidy, Trevor Archibald, Rob Fitzsimmons, Alan Fitzsimmons, Katie Fitzsimmons, Dalton Hidy, Melissa Belzer, Hannah Belzer, and Chas Hidy; two great-grandchildren, Bailey Belzer and Elliot Stone; one sister Marion Shriver of Ottumwa; one brother Richard L. Ratliff and wife Meredith of Albia; two nephews and one niece; one aunt Ernestine Heckart and husband Marlin of Ottumwa; and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Geri was a devoted homemaker, wife, and mother. She was a member of the Illiamo Model T Club, and the Fairfield Weak-Enders Chapter of the National Campers and Hikers Association where she and her husband jointly served in several officer positions. Geri was also a member of the Iowa State Association of NCHA serving with her husband both as president and vice-president, the Ottumwa Area Doll Club, and the Ottumwa Baptist Temple. She was an avid doll collector and quilter, but the most important thing in her life was her family.
A memorial fund is being established for the Cardinal Music Boosters.
