Gertrude L. Lite, 90, of Glasgow, died Monday, June 8, 2015, at Park Place Elder Living Center in Mt. Pleasant.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, June 11, 2015, at White Oak Cemetery north of Rome with Rev. Earl Swigart officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorials to be directed to the Wounded Warrior or to the Lockridge Lions in her memory.

Gertrude L. Lite, 90, of Glasgow, died Monday, June 8, 2015, at Park Place Elder Living Center in Mt. Pleasant.

Lite was born on Sept. 11, 1924, at Stockport, the daughter of Chester and Grace Leola Hammons Douglas. She was united in marriage to Milo Messer on May 3, 1941, in Kahoka, Mo. He preceded her in death. She later married Stan Lite on July 31, 1971, in Keokuk; he, too, preceded her in death. She worked at Sylvania in Burlington for 15 years and Heatilator of Mt. Pleasant for 22 years, retiring in 1989. Lite enjoyed cooking and was known for her cookies, candy, and rolls. She also enjoyed reading mystery books.
Lite is survived by her children, Larry (Gloria) Messer, of Mt. Pleasant; Michael (Jane) Messer, of Mt. Pleasant; Christine (Mike) Weinard, of Iowa City; one step-son, Robert Lite; and one step-daughter, Betty Smith; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Dorothy Sams, of Mediapolis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; one son, Terry Messer; one grandson; four sisters; and three brothers.
