Girl Scout Troop 941 of Fairfield sent a contingent of Girl Scouts and adult chaperones to Camp L-Kee-Ta south of Danville.
Nineteen Girl Scouts and 16 adults enjoyed a weekend-long camp Aug. 13-15 with a Harry Potter theme. The camp was known as “Camp Hogwarts” after the magic school in the Harry Potter series.
Chasity Huffman, a Girl Scout leader in Troop 941 for the past eight years, said the girls had a blast making their own wands, “which were tested to ensure they were magical.”
They completed several crafts and activities including creating their own good luck potion, capturing a pixie, and playing the famous Harry Potter game of Quidditch.
They got to explore the Forbidden Forest during a creek-stomping adventure that ended “in a very fun and muddy mess,” Huffman said.
“At the end of their second day, the girls also completed their own Horcrux Hunt in order to abolish Lord Voldemort,” Huffman said, referring to the main villain in the Harry Potter universe. “Every leader, adult and Girl Scout had a fun-filled weekend and cannot wait until next year where they plan to host a Disney-inspired camp.”
