Girls? tennis nets a win over the Bloodhounds
The Mt. Pleasant girls? tennis team upped its season record to 4-1 with a 7-2 victory over visiting Ft. Madison in a conference meet at East Lake Park on Friday.
The Panthers won four of their singles matches and all three doubles matches.
They got singles wins from No. 1 Taylor Beatty (8-2) and No. 2 Shelby Barton (8-2).

The Mt. Pleasant girls? tennis team upped its season record to 4-1 with a 7-2 victory over visiting Ft. Madison in a conference meet at East Lake Park on Friday.
The Panthers won four of their singles matches and all three doubles matches.
They got singles wins from No. 1 Taylor Beatty (8-2) and No. 2 Shelby Barton (8-2).
No. 5 player Ashton Whaley (9-8) picked up a very close win over her Ft. Madison opponent, winning 9-8 after claiming a 7-2 win in the tiebreaker. Whaley remains undefeated at the varsity level, 2-0.
The Panthers? final singles win came from No. 6 Emily Hatfield (9-7).
In doubles play, the team of Beatty and Tasha Glover won 8-4; Barton and Becca Lehman picked up an 8-2 win; and Whaley and Raeanna Crile claimed an 8-4 victory. Whaley and Crile are also undefeated as a pair, going 2-0 so far this season.
The Panthers will be back on the courts on this afternoon, kicking off a whirlwind week for the team. They travel to Fairfield for a meet that begins at 4:30 p.m. today, make a trip to Keokuk on Tuesday and travel to Ft. Madison on Thursday.
