It was a party atmosphere in spite of the heat as Gloria and Kurt Mielke and others danced to the music of Van and the Movers Tuesday evening at the Good Samaritan Home to celebrate the 40th year of the facility in Keosauqua. In addition to the lively music there was a clown, face painting, petting zoo, and dunk tank outside, and music inside. Several staff members were recognized for years of service exceeding 20 years. There was plenty of food as well, including homemade ice cream made by the Lebanon Church women and cranked by 4-H members, 5 flavors of cake, plain and caramel popcorn, and a full barbeque meal, which was enjoyed by residents, guests and staff alike. To close out the party, there were hot air balloon rides in Mike Hadley?s tethered balloon.
