Goodwill?s veteran services recognized
IOWA CITY ? Goodwill of the Heartland?s services to veterans through the Homeless Veterans? Reintegration Program recently were included in the Best Practices Profiles of Employment Assistance Program to be published by the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans and the National Vets Technical Assistance Center led by the Burton Blatt Insitute at Syracuse University.
Goodwill of the Heartland was included for its best practices in program start-up and for strategies to prepare veterans for placement in a non-urban setting. Additionally, Goodwill of the Heartland Program Director Paulette Risden-Rice represented the team during a NCHV national teleconference March 29.
Goodwill of the Heartland is in the midst of its second three-year HVRP grant. Thoughout the course of the grant, the agency has served more than 900 veterans and an additional 300 veterans in a related program.
Iowa Wesleyan named to honor roll
MOUNT PLEASANT ? Iowa Wesleyan College has been named to the 2012 President?s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll with Distinction by the Corporation for National and Community Service.
The Honor Roll recognizes higher education institutions that reflect the values of exemplary community service and achieve meaningful outcomes in their communities. The selection to the Honor Roll is recognition from the highest levels of the federal government of Iowa Wesleyan?s commitment to service and civic engagement on its campus and in the nation.
Iowa Wesleyan College was one of five Iowa colleges and universities named to the Honor Roll with Distinction.
The Corporation for National and Community Service has administered the Honor Roll since 2006.
