Speaking at his weekly news conference Monday, Branstad noted he?s had positive meetings with lawmakers on the issue, but he concedes there?s no agreement on a package.
Lawmakers are planning to devote most of their time this week to building a new state budget. They hope to end this year?s session next week and have not scheduled more debate on property taxes.
The governor wants a deep cut in business property taxes phased in over eight years.
Democrats running the Senate want a more modest business property tax cut that focuses more on small companies.
