WASHINGTON — The Okee Dokee Brothers, a band playing family-oriented music with bluegrass roots, are scheduled to perform in Washington Sunday, Oct. 9, as part of the Performing Arts Series.
Performing Arts Center Committee Member Jan Gallagher said tickets would be free for kindergarten through 12th grade students.
“We are really excited this year about providing free tickets for students through high school,” she said. “We want to bring the arts to the kids. We don't want there to be any barriers of economy or time or whatever that keeps kids from being involved.”
The band is an acclaimed four-time Grammy winner and five-time Parents’ Choice Award winner, according to a news release from the Washington Area Performing Arts and Events Center and the Washington Concert Association.
“Joe and Justin record and perform family music with a goal to inspire children and their parents to step outside and get creative,” that news release said. “They believe this can motivate kids to gain a greater respect for the natural world, their communities, and themselves.”
The performance is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday at the high school auditorium. Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for college students, and free for K-12 students.
