Grinch and friends returning to Brighton

The Brighton Chamber of Commerce has announced the return of the Grinch and friends this holiday season, after their front porch visits grew popular last year.

Chamber President Dave McArtor said the group was excited to hold the unconventional fundraiser, which it debuted last year.

“People love that it’s different, and something you can only get in small town Iowa,” McArtor said. “It’s important that we keep new and old traditions alive, because that keeps the community alive. It keeps things fresh for everyone.”

Those interested can make a $45 donation or more to the organization and arrange a visit from the characters, who will perform a skit on the recipients’ lawn and leave a gift for the family.

The Grinch is available in Washington, Jefferson and Henry counties on Saturdays from Nov. 26 to Dec. 24, or until his schedule is full. Those interested can call 641-451-1389 to book a visit or get more information.
