Groovin' at East Grove
East Grove Farms, rural Salem, hosted its fourth annual Folk Music Festival last weekend. Nine bands headlined the event with music ranging from folk music to country to bluegrass. East Grove Farms, rural Salem, hosted its fourth annual Folk Music Festival last weekend. Nine bands headlined the event with music ranging from folk music to country to bluegrass. The farm is owned by the Garretson family and is the oldest family farm in Iowa. Last year over 700 people attended the event which was confined to one day. This year, the festival expanded to two days. In addition to good music, the festival also featured East Grove Farms? locally grown and locally made wine, mead, cider and beer being sold. A blues festival also will be held at the site, east of Salem on Sept. 9.
