Rick Zickefoose from Brighton Community Church led the worship service in Epworth Chapel on Sunday, the theme/sermon was “Victory Over My Emotions” using the scripture text Psalm 42. Rick was also joined by Anne Zickefoose.
This week, IL and Sitler ladies gathered to play their weekly Bingo games and everyone walked away a winner. Residents got to choose from a variety of candy and sodas for their prizes. Everyone enjoyed their sweet treats. For exercise, residents were able to tune in on their TV’s for Halcyon House’s Virtual Exercise class.
The residents said they loved being able to exercise from their apartments and continue to look forward to the virtual option. Every day, residents were put to the test with brain teasers and other word puzzles. They persisted and had a fun time trying to unscramble words on the word scramble sheet.
This week, the residents of Sagewood enjoyed celebrating National Fruitcake Toss Day by participating in a Fruitcake toss competition. The rest of the week was followed with fun activities including brain games, a root beer float social and yard game exercise. Wedgewood residents got together this week for brain games, Bingo and Thirsty Thursday. To end a busy week, they enjoyed a music concert by our very talented friend MaryJo.
Last week, the Christmas season was put behind us, as we packed up all the festive décor in Rosewood. Now new beautiful decorations remind us of the beauty of wintertime. Residents are crafting snowmen of all types, from using felt to filling socks with rice to create new frosty friends. The new snow that came was beautiful to watch come down, from inside.
In Wedgewood at the “Mystery Suitcase” program handmade quilts were shared along with pieces to make another quilt in the near future. A mug of hot chocolate and a peppermint candy spoon for stirring gave this winter treat an added flavor. Discussions about quilts that the residents have made and trivia on quilts was all a part of this patchwork program.
A “Thirst Thursday” get together this week brought a lot of smiles and discussions on things in the 50s. From poodle skirts to saddle shoes to reminiscing about the Saturday night dances were all a part of this get together discussion. A junk yard detective puzzle, apple slices, homemade apple dip, cheese, crackers, chocolate and a beverage of their choice topped off this fun get together.
Lastly, we’d like to wish a happy birthday to Dolores Siegle (1/9), Paul Kuhlman (1/10), Pete Weller and Louis Crossett (1/13), Lauren Cory (1/15), Rosamond Goodlander (1/16), Eveline Adam (1/19), Jan Rosien (1/20), and Mary Wright (1/21).
